This Day In Music History: February 7th, 1994 – Therapy? releases landmark album, “Troublegum”

The music world – specifically rock and metal – was far different in 1994 than it is now. The 90’s in particular was a hotbed for landmark albums in the realm of pop-punk, indie rock, and especially alternative rock. Irish three-piece Therapy? were at the forefront of this movement, and their 1994 album Troublegum is likely the magnum opus in the band’s discography, adeptly blending alternative rock with noise rock and metal like few bands of the time were doing.

The album, which turns 23 today, can be streamed below. Its influence was strongly felt in the later crop of alternative metal bands that followed – bands like Deftones and Thrice surely were influenced by it. If you’re unfamiliar, get acquainted. Troublegum is still a masterpiece.
