There is a Metalocalypse movie in the works, according to creator Brendon Small!

The Adult Swim animation Metalocalypse made its debut on August 6th, 2006, and lasted until October 27th, 2013. The show featured the fictional melodic death metal band Dethklok, and showcased the wild things they get into as a band. The show was a critical and commercial success for Adult Swim, but ultimately was shelved in 2013. Brendon Small, the creator of the show, has gone on to express interest in continuing the show throughout the 2010s, and now it seems his wish is coming true. Speaking with 93.3 WMMR Rocks!, Brendon went on to disclose that a Metalocalypse film is currently in production with no clear release date in sight.

When he began talking about the current state of the project, Brendon went on to say:

“I can tell you.. what has already been released, which is that we are making a feature Metalocalypse movie, and that’s what we’re in production on right now. So we’re right in the middle of making the movie, so all the questions that were still lingering after The Doomstar Requiem (a 1-hour long rock opera special) are being answered… I don’t want to say too much about it, but it’s a very big project, we’re all excited to be knee-deep in it right now.”

“I can say one thing: it WILL be brutal.”

This is exciting news for fans and metalheads! There is new music in the work as well for Dethklok as Gene Hoglan (ex-Testament) announced in April he is writing new music for the project.
