Four full-lengths and almost a decade into their careers, metalcore band The Word Alive have made a nice foundation for themselves. Though many fans insist the band peaked with their 2010 debut Deceiver, TWA have always created solid material with occasional flashes of melodic brilliance (“Astral Plane”, “Suffocating”) interspersed with more typical post-hardcore/metalcore fare. Having just announced a tour supporting I Prevail, it’s the perfect time for TWA to build up some serious momentum for their next album, which according to the band, is being demoed right now. They even revealed 3 song titles.
Of particular note is that the album will, according to vocalist Telle Smith, contain a tribute to the late Chester Bennington of Linkin Park – one of Telle’s more obvious influences. If The Word Alive can harness the more melodic and ambient soundscapes of their best material and play to their musical strengths, their next record could be a great one. They certainly have it in them.
@tellesmith I don't wanna cash in on sad times… but are we ever going to get to hear what you wrote for Chester? Or is it too personal?
