The Story So Far bring the singalongs to kick off the weekend in Chicago

Kicking off their “I Want To Disappear In The USA” tour only the night before Chicago got the honor of kicking off a Friday night with The Story So Far and company.

Getting things going was pop punk / hardcore hybrid Koyo who had pits, crowd surfers, and singalongs going from the start as they powered through a 30 minute fast moving set. On the other end of the spectrum was Superheaven though who played next. With a sound not far off of 90s Seattle era grunge at points it was musically far off from Koyo. While personally not a fan there were members of the crowd were were into this set a lot as the band played through a roughly 45 minute set.

Finally though it was time for the moment everyone was here for though, The Story So Far. Hot off their new “I Want To Disappear” album which is beloved by both fans and critics (its my favorite album of 2024), the band blasted through a 21 song set.

Heavy off the new album mixed with some hits from every album along the way the band sounded perfect. I will comment on the big Parker Cannon not moving thing as well. Given the subject matter and how fast he goes for some of the newer album songs it makes sense he isn’t jumping around. He was happy at this show though and you could tell he was enjoying himself and he sounded fantastic.

The crowd though gave back every bit of energy that the band wasn’t. Endless crowd surfers for most songs and singalongs that would over power the speakers at points. If this tour is coming near you its a must see and if you haven’t heard the new record its a must listen.
