With nostalgia selling as well as it does right now, it’s a bit surprising that post-grunge stars Creed haven’t reunited quite yet. While the band did reunite in 2009 for a brief period, the three members of Creed that aren’t vocalist Scott Stapp are all in Alter Bridge, while Scott Stapp has a fairly prominent solo career. While not reaching the commercial heights that Creed once did, Alter Bridge are still undoubtedly a very popular band, with songwriting skills and critical praise that eclipse most music the former created. However, a Creed reunion tour would likely be a hot ticket item. What’s the hold up, then?
Apparently the only reason Creed hasn’t reunited yet is because his solo project Tremonti, as well as his commitments with Alter Bridge (who just finished up work on a new record), prevent him from making it happen. As Metal Injection helpfully transcribed, Mark Tremonti had this to say about a Creed reunion being possible:
“You never know. It’s just one of those things where whenever it comes up, either our camp or Scott has something going on at the moment. So our stars have to align. In fact, right now if a promoter said, ‘Hey, we wanna do a huge Creed tour,’ I’d have to bypass all the stuff we’re working on at the moment. So we just have to wait till the time is right.”
With a new Alter Bridge album coming soon (the band releases a full-length every three years, and it’s definitely that time again), it might be a bit of a wait. The band has sold over 53 million albums worldwide, which isn’t insignificant, even though much of those numbers came at the height of CD sales. That being said, there would undoubtedly be a pretty high demand for it, and when you factor in the nostalgia people are currently having for that era of music, it’s probably only a matter of the right timing.
