Music. Gaming. Nostalgia. Culture.

Thanks to a Jurassic Park meme as well as Doom, Linkin Park’s “What I’ve Done” is going viral

Just based on some cursory statistics, Linkin Park’s “What I’ve Done” is an extremely popular song. The debut single off their 2007 album Minutes To Midnight, it’s the band’s fourth-most popular song on Spotify at 531 million streams (and counting). It remained a concert staple for the band for years, too. And now it’s experiencing some new attention through a series of videos celebrating the year 2007.

Here’s essentially what happened. A week ago, a Twitter user uploaded a video of the Jurassic World movie, but overdubbed with “What I’ve Done” as the music instead. Fitting, since the song already appeared in the 2007 Transformers movie, no doubt helping it spike in popularity. The idea then took off, and the song has been used in other videos – like the Braves winning the 2021 World Series, Knives Out, and even the 2016 DOOM game receiving the treatment.

Who would’ve thought that a song released in 2007 would be going viral just now? Either way, we’re here for it.
