The loss of Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins was an event that shook the music world to its core. Hawkins was the beloved drummer of one of the world’s most popular rock bands, and it’s clear that he was loved by all who were fortunate enough to know him. So when news broke that there would be two memorial events done in his honor, with Foo Fighters returning with a massive list of guests for both shows, fans expected something special.
Out of all the laughs and tears though, the biggest emotional tipping point might have been when Hawkins’ son Shane came out to play the classic Foo Fighters track “My Hero” on drums with the rest of the band. Seeing Dave Grohl in both complete happiness and holding back tears while Shane played is a memory that will last in music longer than any of us are around for. It’s a testament to the healing power of music.
This was the first of two memorial shows, and if the first show is anything to go by, show number two will be an evening that will remembered for ages to come. You can check out the setlist from the first event below.
