System Of A Down’s song “Toxicity” just joined the Spotify Billions Club

At the time of this article’s publication, System Of A Down was #250 On the list of Spotify’s most streamed artists in the entire world. At almost 24 million monthly listeners, there are few metal or rock bands that can even approach a number like that. When you consider that their 2001 album Toxicity sold over 6 million copies in the USA alone and they’ve sold tens of millions worldwide, their massive fanbase continuing to grow thanks to social media isn’t a surprise.

It also shouldn’t be particularly surprising that a handful of their songs are massively successful on streaming services. In fact, “Toxicity” just hit a major milestone on Spotify today, joining Spotify’s Billions Club.

It’s one of the first songs from a nu-metal band to reach the milestone, and System’s second, with “Chop Suey!” approaching 1.5 billion on the platform. Multiple songs from other rock and metal bands have managed to hit the rare milestone in recent months, including multiple songs by Linkin Park, Jimmy Eat World, blink-182, and many more. Notably, the milestone happened after the band headline a show in San Francisco that (along with Deftones, The Mars Volta, and many more) brought out massive crowds.
