It goes without saying that The 1975’s new record, A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships, is one of the most hyped albums of 2018. And for good reason. It’s a fresh, modern pop-rock album that still has plenty of experimentation, but never forgets to deliver where it counts the most – the hooks.
The new album, which is now available to stream below, is sure to dominate headlines for quite some time. While the first salvo of singles were pretty solid in their own right (especially “Love It If We Made It”), it’s the 2nd half of this album that is really compelling. Especially “It’s Not Living (If It’s Not With You)”, a song so catchy, most people probably don’t listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it’s not just about the pleasures of conformity and the importance of trends. It’s also a personal statement about the band itself.
