A year and a half after their 2021 sophomore release This Place Will Become Your Tomb, the mysterious masked band Sleep Token have treated fans to a surprise single and video in the form of “Chokehold”. Emerging back in 2016/2017 with a handful of exciting songs, the band has exploded since then. That gap doesn’t mean they have been silent, though. The group is gearing up for a busy European and UK run with Architects and Northlane. The run follows a busy summer playing numerous festivals including Bloodstock Open Air, Rocklahoma, and Blue Ridge Rock Festival and an equally busy autumn out on the road with In This Moment and Nothing More.
“Chokehold” contains the emotive, yet eerie vocal performances and harmonies mixed with heavy instrumentation expected from a Sleep Token performance. The animated video for the track also features a creepy insect-like creature of mysterious origin and purpose. Only time will show this new significance in the Sleep Token universe, if it pops up again at all.
