Few bands of any genre have undergone the trials and tribulations that North Carolina metalcore band Valleys have. Just before the release of their previous album, Valleys lost their vocalist Mikey Clement in a terrible car accident, which left the band’s future uncertain. However, the band has regrouped with new vocalist Jayson Mitchell for their upcoming record Fearless (which is ready to pre-order here), which is aptly titled considering all that surrounds this release.
While it’s not due out until October, we’re stoked to partner up with the band for the premiere of “Fragile Minds”, which features a typically inspired performance by both Valleys and Silent Planet vocalist Garrett Russell.
The band’s new song – and album, in general – combines flavors of modern metalcore with a more progressive and technical bent than you might be used to. If you’re a fan of like-minded acts like Between The Buried And Me, Polaris, or even mind-period Veil Of Maya, you’ll likely eat Fearless up for breakfast. Don’t just take our word for it, though – jam the new track below. The song is a call to the band’s peers to refuse to turn a blind eye to the social & political havoc tearing apart the fabric of our society, and Valleys’ message is clear – to create music that promotes equality for all.
