Silent Planet cap first era of the band with harrowing new song, “Trilogy”

Critically acclaimed metalcore band Silent Planet have certainly become a respected name in the community in just a few short years. Whether it’s the community they’ve created around the band that’s extremely passionate, or the lyrical subjects that broach often-difficult topics like PTSD and substance abuse, Silent Planet are no stranger to confronting tough realities.

That’s what makes the band’s new song “Trilogy” even more impactful. A song that closes out the first era of Silent Planet music, the song details vocalist Garrett Russell’s battles with anxiety that almost took the band to the brink of an uncertain future. Rest assured it’ll leave an impact on you, the listener, as well.

As Garrett himself says about the song,

I’m not sure if any song has ever meant this much to me – or if anything ever could again.
I wrote these lyrics while I was in a mental hospital – all in one go. It’s about my experience of anxiety and the events that preceded my hospitalization – the events that threw me and the band into a place of uncertainty. But we’re still here. I’m beyond thankful that we’re all still making music together.

Well, it’s here. Trilogy is out now. It’s been a wild team effort from start to finish – collaborating with Dan, getting art from Imani, shooting a video with Kev, having Drew mix it, getting inspiration from Kay and having Cory and everyone at Solid State standing behind us to make this possible. I truly don’t deserve these people in my life. Most people would want nothing to do with me after watching me completely lose touch with reality in Belgium – but these people still do and I know so many of you have been sending me encouraging messages over this difficult winter. And thank you for that. Okay, sorry to rant away. Now it’s time for spring and it’s time for Trilogy Tour to start in a few days. It’s our biggest tour yet, and if you live anywhere in the states, I hope I can see you there. Love y’all. Thank you for walking through hell with me.
