Let’s be honest here, Machine Gun Kelly is basically as big of a punching bag as you can get in the music industry. While MGK is plenty successful, his feuds with the likes of Corey Taylor haven’t exactly endeared him to rock or metal fans. Neither did 2022’s critical bombing on Mainstream Sellout, where this 16 track behemoth actually mines the ghosts of Blink-182 and Green Day in ways that fall somewhere between cliche and total ripoff.
It might actually shock you to find out that all six of his full-length albums have been certified at least Gold by the RIAA, and 2019’s Hotel Diablo actually had some moments. However, a new guitar that he partnered with Schecter Guitars to release, is certainly not going to bring MGK the kind of attention he wants. Schecter says the guitar is “perfect for pop-punk”, which is really something. And let’s just say the comments in response to this reveal haven’t been the kindest. It also arrives at an eye-watering $1,499 price tag.
Oh, and apparently MGK has a problem with someone like Static Dress’s Olli Appleyard criticizing it. What MGK said isn’t even factual, especially when you consider that Static Dress is currently opening BMTH’s headlining tour right now.
