Rising stars Vespera unveil anthemic new video for “Fading Light” – listen

Though they’ve released a string of successful singles over the last few years, rising rock band Vespera have constantly experienced setbacks when it comes to getting tours on the road. The COVID-19 pandemic impacted them immensely, causing the band to have to revamp how they release music as well.

However, there’s a lot more than just a “fading” light at the end of the tunnel. As vaccines continue to be distributed, hope has arrived for live music – in some capacity – to return later this year. For bands like Vespera, getting a live show out there is one of the biggest ways for a talented band like this to increase their audience. Vespera’s new video for “Fading Light” – the new single off their newest EP of the same name, might also be deemed an actual light in the tunnel. Always combining an accessible, emotive sound with a strong audiovisual component, “Fading Light” is no exception to what Vespera have done thus far. Give the new video a watch below and check out their new tour dates with CG5 and NateWantsToBattle. Do note that the EP consists of “Fading Light”, plus three previously released singles.

About the new track, the band had this to say:

A year ago, so many of our most essential sources of joy were swept out from under our feet. Stages were abandoned, grandiose plans were left to gather dust, and the lifeblood of social interaction was cut off at a moment’s notice. For many of us, this has resulted in long, dreary months stuck at home, struggling to maintain a positive outlook in the face of unprecedented uncertainty. “Fading Light” represents a longing to return to these joys that we once took for granted.

The release of “Fading Light” accompanies a new EP by the same name, as well as the announcement of our first North American tour, slated for (hopefully) this August. We filmed the music video for Fading Light with the help of our dear friend and director, Jon Vulpine in an aptly desolate nuclear power plant just outside of Kurt Cobain’s hometown. This particular nuclear plant had previously served as a filming location for much of Transformers 3, and it was a surreal experience being able to film in such a uniquely dystopian space.

Interestingly, while we were filming in one half of the facility, the US military was using the other half for training exercises. On one occasion, we accidentally wandered down the wrong hallway and ended up walking into an artillery drill. Various uniformed gunmen raised their rifles in our direction, but quickly realized that we weren’t the intended targets of their exercise. We backed away in shock and wrapped up filming in peace.
