Minnesota progressive metalcore band Reflections first emerged on April 28th, 2012, with their debut album The Fantasy Effect. Emerging from a scene that already had started to flourish with bands like Erra, Invent Animate, and plenty more, the album proved an important launching pad for Reflections. Tracks like “Advance Upon Me Brethren” showcased dizzying musicianship and the technical gifts of all involved.
To say it was a pretty influential album in the scene is putting it mildly. Showcasing some interesting riffs, melodies, and solid vocals from Jake Wolf, one of the few gripes with the album is that it was self-produced – making for lower production values than most of their peers at the time. Now, however, the album has received a fresh, shiny coat of paint. Reflections dropped a wonderful bombshell on their fans by teasing the reimagined album through a pre-save link. One day later the album released and is considered a surprise release. Reflections have gone above and beyond in paying tribute to the record. This wonderful album was upgraded with high quality production, and the sound that has come to define Reflections is quite apparent in listening to the revamped version. The album was completely redone from the ground up, and with a masterclass of care. Reflections have unveiled an exclusive clothing line to go with the release of The Fantasy Effect Redux, you can find that here.
