Album Review: InVisions – ‘Between You & Me’

InVisions – ‘Between You & Me’ (8.5/10)

Hailing from Yorkshire, InVisions are a metalcore outfit from the UK, and are now back with their sophomore full-length, Between You & Me. On the signing to Stay Sick Records, guitarist Lucas Gabb says: “We were all at work, just a normal day when we got a message from our manager saying that Mike & Fronz (Attila / Co-Owner) were listening to the new record. Pretty much straight away he showed interest and said he’d be in touch with a formal offer to join the label, which was mad! Mike has a badass history in the music industry and Fronz is a G so we’re definitely really hyped to get on board with them for the new record!

Opening track and lead single ‘Good for Nothing’ starts the album with a punch right to the face, with big heavy riffs, nasty growls from vocalist Ben Ville and some hard-hitting drums, It’s one of the better songs on the album, too.

Straight from ‘Good for Nothing’ into second single ‘Too Far Gone’, it has a killer solo, and seeing (well, hearing) the amount of venom that vocalist Ben Ville has here is pretty mind-blowing.

‘Too Little, Too Late’ opens with some massive growls and some dirty riffs in the mix, and not to mention the complimentary “BLEGHS”, “you’ll be remembered when you’re buried, dead and gone!”. There’s some neat little riffs here that make this song stand out from most of the others on the album.

With ‘Heretic’ we’re getting an Attila vibe, which is a lot better than it might sound. ‘Memoriam’ and ‘Worlds Away’ have the same sort of vibe, but every single individual track brings something different, either musically or lyrically, and the singing sounds very Glamour of the Kill-esque. This isn’t a bad thing at all.

In conclusion, this album is produced very well, and has some massive songs on it. InVisions have done it yet again, with another really great effort. The only thing to complain about is that there could have been a slower song thrown in –  because judging by this album, we know that lead vocalist Ben can belt it out.
