Chicago’s very own Radius was the third stop for the Tech N9ne and Hollywood Undead 2023 tour, with opener King Iso. Nu metal and rap rock outfit Hollywood Undead pumped up the crowd with their 2017 single, “Riot”. Frontmen Dylan Alvarez (Funny Man) and Danny Rose Murillo welcomed a member of the crowd with a rendition of the James Bond theme song to join them on stage to sing “Happy When I Die”. Their energy throughout a well-rounded set traversed their releases V, American Tragedy, Hotel Kalifornia, and others, truly bringing the Saturday night dance party element to a gloomy Wednesday night.
American rapper and Strange Music cofounder Tech N9ne (Aaron Dontez Yates) took the stage in a foggy red haze, performing “Stamina”, “Unfair”, and “E.B.A.H.”, a trio nodding to his Welcome to Strangeland, The Worst, and Boiling Point albums respectively. King Iso joined Tech N9ne on stage for the penultimate song, performing “Face Off” from ASIN9NE.
New Yorker and rapper King Iso shared a much needed message of mental health awareness with the crowd, guiding a chant of “mental health matters”. “Nightmare” was a nod to the struggles that many of us feel on a regular basis but may not be known to others.
