Porcupine Tree are one of progressive rock and metal’s most notable icons, to be certain. Mainly due to bandleader Steven Wilson’s solo career (and various other side projects), Porcupine Tree haven’t released an album since 2009’s The Incident. And while Steven Wilson mostly put to rest the possibility of a reunion in 2018, earlier this year he did say that a reunion was a possibility – but it’ll come when fans “least expect it”.
Well, apparently that wait is now over as the band have officially reunited and released their first new song since 2009, “Harridan”. It gets even better – the song is off the band’s upcoming full-length, Closure/Continuation, out in June 2022. While that’s a long way off, it’s great to have this iconic band back in any capacity. Oh, and the new song? Suitably epic at eight minutes long, you won’t want to miss out on this.
