Beloved and influential French electronic duo Daft Punk have announced their official breakup, after 28 years making mudic together. They announced it on Monday morning, posting a video called “Epilogue”, which you can view below. The band’s publicist also confirmed the split.
Starting with their debut full-length Homework in 1997, Daft Punk was responsible for some of the biggest crossover hits of the last 20+ years – especially “Get Lucky”, “One More Time”, and “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger”. They also produced the critically acclaimed Tron: Legacy soundtrack for Disney in 2010 and collaborated with The Weeknd on two tracks of his 2016 album, Starboy.
