Photo Review: P!NK Beautiful Trauma Tour at Amway Center – April 24, 2018

Recently our photojournalist Savannah Rowley had the privilege to watch and photograph the androgynous legend P!NK on her current headlining Beautiful Trauma Tour. Empowering, inspiring, and an overall badass are some of the words we’d use to describe P!NK as she tore up the stage with acrobatics, amazing dance numbers, and several theatrics that you can only truly experience by seeing it live. You can purchase tickets for upcoming dates here.

Opening up the night with her hit song, “Get the Party Started,” the curtains drew and out came a flying P!NK on a chandelier. Twirling through the air, doing flips of all kinds landing right in sync with her dance crew for her next song, the title track off of her latest album Beautiful Trauma where she showed some serious dance moves.

Taken to the depths of a mystical forest, fans were engaged a few songs later for the singer’s emotional performance featuring an amazing dance routine for her song “Try.” Continuing the night with her 4x platinum song “Just Give Me A Reason” which originally features the vocalist from F.U.N, Nate Ruess. Close after was an emotional performance of the song “F**kin’ Perfect” where P!NK greets fans and signs items, takes a few selfies, and waves around a pride flag picked up during the night.

In the middle of the show, fans were introduced to a video featuring P!NK and several other strong women over time, standing up for their rights politically and socially bringing up topics such as feminism, the #METOO movement, and gay marriage — stating “I don’t want there to be gay marriage, I only want there to be happy and lasting marriage.”

The video that went viral of the Vanguard acceptance speech from the MTV Video Music Awards, was brought back again as a text video, filling the arena with an emotional tribute to her 6-year-old daughter who was questioning her appearance when comparing herself to society, claiming she was “the ugliest girl she knew who looked like a boy.” To this extent, P!NK made a Powerpoint presentation outlining key androgynous rockstars and how they don’t let society define them and neither should she, these are artists such as Michael Jackson, David Bowie, and Elton John.

Later in the night, P!NK mentions her first ever show was in Orlando at the Hard Rock Live venue in Universal Studios. She was surprised to find out that some of the audience were at that very show nearly two decades ago. Bringing the night to a close by performing popular songs, such as “Raise Your Glass,” “So What” where the singer flew around the arena from the floor to the upper levels being suspended on a string, and a stripped down version of “Glitter in the Air.”

Overall, P!NK was just as amazing as expected, bringing more to her performance than we thought we would ever see. All the while she’s been making music, she’s always remained true to herself and her ideals which is one thing we majorly respect. We hope to see her again soon. Be sure to catch this magical performance at a city near you soon!
