You don’t need us to recount the entire Machine Gun Kelly vs. Corey Taylor feud for the billionth time like every other media outlet out there. Nobody has time for that when there’s new music waiting to be discovered instead, so we’ll keep this brief: After appearing at the Shiprocked festival late in January, the Slipknot frontman held a Q&A session – and he definitely let everyone know how he felt about the Tickets To My Downfall pop-punk star.
The feud rages on like a wildfire. As Audacy explains, “Corey Taylor was one of the artists taking part in the 2022 ShipRocked cruise and held a question-and-answer session with fans. During the session, Taylor brought up his feud with Machine Gun Kelly as he summarized the whole ordeal and brought along a few new details.” And rest assured, dear readers, Corey Taylor did indeed tell us what he thinks of Machine Gun Kelly. None of it being good.
As Billboard so helpfully transcribed from the video above, Corey Taylor had this to say when prodded about how said feud actually got started, after also explaining that talking down to Slipknot and their fans was clearly not going to be tolerated:
“But he, to this day, maintains that I started it,” Taylor said. “It’s, like, the only reason I said what I said is because he said what he said. You don’t get to walk into a genre with the history, with the work … The fact that this genre really doesn’t get the f–king respect that it deserves. You don’t get to walk in as some weird substitute teacher and pretend that you can tell us what to wear – boots, shoes, house f–king shoes, slippers … And these are bands that maybe I don’t even f–king know, but guess what? I f–king respect them because they get on f–king stage and they f–king give every f–king thing they’ve got.”
Good times, indeed. Perhaps these two could be the catalyst for a revival of MTV’s Celebrity Deathmatch? Now THAT would be must-see television. I mean what else is MTV doing nowadays, 22 daily hours of Ridiculousness? It would surely be a big ratings hit and would probably lead to more epic clashes, too. We’re all for it.
