Palisades will take a final bow, announce their breakup and final show

Post-hardcore band Palisades fell into radio silence after announcing vocalist and former bassist Brandon Elgar left the band in October. The group’s last tweet was an image announcing the following on October 27th:

Unfortunately, we will not be able to see all of you on the upcoming dates we had scheduled with Secrets.

Brandon has chosen to leave the band.

We will update everyone very soon.

Love, Palisades

“Very soon” turned into two and a half months before their fans and followers finally saw activity. Palisades posted an announcement to their socials (including their Instagram profile missing every post except the announcement), somber and yet full of gratitude:

Their first news since their social media silence: Palisades is over. After an 11-year career birthing five full-length albums, the Iselin, NJ natives announced that Palisades is coming to an end; they aren’t going quietly, though. Their home farewell show is scheduled for Saturday, February 25th at the House of Independents in Asbury Park, NJ. Slotted on the bill also are Reece Young, Suck Brick Kid, and Poeta. Tickets are available for purchase Friday, January 13th at 10 A.M. EST through their Ticketweb page.

Plenty of fans and friends on Twitter were heartbroken about this morning’s news and took to the site to share their thoughts and memories:

The band accomplished quite a bit in their time together, to be sure. Emerging in 2012 with their debut EP I’m Not Dying Today, Palisades’ brand of post-hardcore pivoted to the more pop and electronic side of things (notably featuring blackbear before he because super famous), and then exploding with their self-titled and Erase The Pain albums a few years ago.
