Metal, hardcore and metalcore fans alike rejoice — Bleeding Through have apparently returned. Yes, the bruising California veterans who declared “Nothing is over” when announcing their now likely to be temporary break-up back in 2014 are back to crush the masses. Evidence comes not from rumors this time, but from a series of Instagram posts made by frontman Brandan Schieppati, the most glaring stating that he and bandmate Mick Feto are recording together at Barracks Studios. “The Iron Son? Bleeding Through? Maybe both?”

Seeing how this post was made back in November, it seems we can likely expect a new Bleeding Through record this year sooner than later. For Bleeding Through’s multi-generational fanbase of headbangers, this is great news. Though anyone who has kept tabs on Brandan knows that he has suspiciously not slowed down on creating music one bit. Even more cunning, his side project, The Iron Son, doesn’t sound too far from Bleeding Through whatsoever. Furthermore, the hashtags #NothingIsOver and even the band name, #BleedingThrough have been frequently used in the wake of the hiatus that began back in 2014. The signs have been present for quite awhile that the band could make their return and it seems the stars have finally aligned over the three year break.
Bleeding Through’s last record, The Great Fire, was released back in 2012 on Rise Records who also dropped the band’s self-titled record. No word yet on whether or not a label is involved with this new material yet, but this comeback doesn’t seem too abrupt. Rumors were after all shot down this time last year, only to be confirmed at the end of the year. Bleeding Through originally split due to what seemed like timing for each of its six members. Anyone who has followed the band knows that each record is extremely personal and open, featuring Brandan’s most intense feelings poured out. Perhaps the band ended also because Brandan had nothing left to say musically under that guise at the time.
Given that The Iron Son is opening the January 25 date of this tour, it’s clear that Brandan’s passion for music is never gone.
I welcome Bleeding Through back with open arms though. We need the conviction and transparency that they displayed across their catalogue of six fantastic records in modern music. It was always difficult for me to imagine a heavy music scene without the name Bleeding Through. I couldn’t be happier that they’ve returned. It seems it’s difficult for bands who swear off existence to stay gone for long these days. Isn’t that right, Atreyu? That’s alright though. It only shows how passionate these bands are for what they do. And we need passion now more than ever.
