Nickelback aren’t nearly the most hated band in rock – that title goes to Trapt by a landslide. And unlike Trapt, the Canadian hard rock band are still putting out decent material – the band’s 2017 album Feed The Machine was pretty clearly the best work of their career. Fewer ballads, less in the way of corny lyricism, and an emphasis on their hard rock roots made it a record that even made non-fans of the band take notice.
Now, it appears the band is getting ready to release another one in the near future. In a new interview with Tulsa Music Stream, Bassist Mike Kroeger had this to say about new music, helpfully transcribed by Blabbermouth:
“Music is being composed and recorded up in Canada. We were out there, and something came up and our producer had to take some time off. So I took that opportunity to [return home] to Los Angeles with family and spend a little bit of time at home. But I’ll be headed back up there in a couple of weeks to pick it up again.”
In the interview, Kroeger also said the band is booking a tour for next summer, but while there’s no set release date for it yet (he initimated that the band is “on our own schedule”), clearly they can afford to do what they want at this point – over 50 million albums sold worldwide means there’s nothing left to prove. Other than looking at this graph, of course.
