My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way pays tribute to Power Trip’s late frontman Riley Gale

The My Chemical Romance reunion tour soldiers on. To say it’s been a success so far is an understatement, with the band’s new song “The Foundations Of Decay” coming alongside the band’s current world tour.

You might not think there would be a logical link between My Chemical Romance and metal bands, but then again, you’d be wrong. Many of your favorite bands have musical tastes that are far beyond the spectrum they perform in, and My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way being a fan of heavier music has been well documented. In fact, according to a recent video when the band performed live last weekend, Gerard Way showcased an affinity for crossover thrash band Power Trip and their late vocalist, Riley Gale. In fact, it appears Power Trip were one of the bands MCR had in mind when it came to opening their current reunion shows.

As ThePRP notes, Gerard had this to say in a video, which you can watch below:

“…I was so inspired by that fucking dude. And they were gonna be one of the bands that were gonna open for us… or I was gonna ask at least. They could have said, ‘Fuck no’, which I would have been totally respectful of, but I have a feeling they might have said, ‘yes’… They were a great fucking band. Rest in peace, Riley, motherfucker!”

This would have been one hell of a tour for anyone to witness.
