It’s hard not to be impressed by a band like Motionless In White. While it’s true that the band is aiming for a massive audience via the OctaneCore route, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with being a popular, radio-friendly band. And on Scoring The End Of The World, the band’s sixth full-length album, it’s not like MIW didn’t making a diverse record. There’s songs that are tailor-made for radio success (“Masterpiece”), throwbacks to the band’s older music (“Burned At Both Ends II”), and moshworthy bangers (“Slaughterhouse”, which features Knocked Loose’s Bryan Garris).
It’s not surprising that the record is a huge success, but what is pretty cool is that the album landed at #12 on the Billboard 200 this week. Notably, the band outsold new records from the likes of Carrie Underwood (for just one example), and it’s their biggest Billboard 200 debut since Reincarnate debuted at #9. Anyone who thinks rock and metal bands can’t be successful need only look at what bands like MIW are accomplishing – especially considering many bands in the scene end up becoming less relevant later into their careers.
First week numbers for Scoring The End Of The World are in! 29,500 total records sold is not only jaw dropping, but is a massive statement made by YOU, the fans, showing the world that rock & metal is here to fucking stay. We cannot thank you enough. We love you, let's celebrate! pic.twitter.com/xSGQTrVYhS
