While now currently fronting Andrew McMahon and the Wilderness, acclaimed singer-songwriter Andrew McMahon has been a part of many other acclaimed projects, especially Jack’s Mannequin and Something Corporate, dominating the 2000’s with some of the best choruses ever put to tape. You know the ones – “The Mixed Tape”, “Space”, and “Punk Rock Princess”, especially. These songs were the soundtrack to many an AIM status or LiveJournal update, to be certain.
Mayday’s brand of vulnerable pop-punk has always taken a strong influence from Something Corporate, especially their 2002 album Leaving Through The Window. So it should come as no surprise that the band just released a cover of that album’s “Punk Rock Princess” a track so catchy, most people don’t even remember the words (just kidding, everyone does). Check out the cover below – maybe they’ll be pulling it out on Warped Tour this summer?
