On a beautiful Friday evening a packed Allstate Arena were treated to the return of someone who could easily be “The King Of Salsa”, Marc Anthony, for an evening of singing and dancing galore.
Kicking off the evening was long time touring mate for Marc Anthony, comedian Joey Vega. Vega got the crowd laughing and ready for the evening as they filed into their seats. With a fast laugh fill set Joey Vega performed with veteran skills getting the crowd into his set, which can be hard to do especially when performing comedy to a crowd expecting live music.
Following Vega was the first musical performance of the evening in the form of Chilean pop star Cami. Backed with only a second member on a laptop and guitar Cami did a quick set but with the style and stage presence of a headliner. Even with some slight sound issues throughout her set Cami went through her set making an arena full of new fans who wanted more. At a young age I can’t wait to see what the rest of her career carries for her and hope to see her back in the Chicagoland area sooner than later.
Closing out the evening was the man himself, the biggest tropical salsa artists of all time, Marc Anthony. Coming up from a riser at the top of the stage Marc Anthony commanded the crowd into an evening of nonstop dance. Barely stopping himself it was all smiles and sing alongs the entire evening.
Watching his set its clear why he is a multi time Grammy winner who has sold over 12 million hours. Its hard to not dance while watching Marc Anthony interact with his band and crowd. If you were close to the stage you’d be pointed out for sure, smiled at, or even have your flag taken while Marc wears it around the stage. It has to be noted too that Marc Anthonys entire band is just fantastic. As someone coming from rock and metal, his drummer in particular should be talked about by all putting in one of the best and most fun to watch drum solos I’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing live.
Playing from a setlist of hits and some deeper cuts including from his 2019 release “Opus”, fans left happy hearing everything they could want and more. If you have a chance to see this tour live I couldn’t recommend it more if you are a die hard fan or a someone unaware of his music, you’ll leave just as impressed as if you were.

En una hermosa noche de viernes, un Allstate Arena repleto fue testigo del regreso del que fácilmente podría ser “El Rey de la Salsa”, Marc Anthony, para una noche de canciones y bailes en abundancia.
Para empezar la noche, el comediante Joey Vega, compañero de gira de Marc Anthony durante mucho tiempo, hizo reír al público. Vega hizo que el público se riera y se preparara para la noche mientras se acomodaba en sus asientos. Con una serie de risas rápidas, Joey Vega actuó con veteranía, haciendo que el público se metiera en su set, lo que puede ser difícil de hacer, especialmente cuando se hace comedia para un público que espera música en directo.
Tras Vega llegó la primera actuación musical de la noche, la estrella del pop chileno Cami. Apoyada por un segundo miembro con un portátil y una guitarra, Cami ofreció una actuación de ritmo rápido, pero con el estilo y la presencia escénica de una cabeza de cartel. Incluso con algunos problemas de sonido a lo largo de su actuación, Cami se dirigió al escenario lleno de nuevos fans con ganas de más. A su corta edad, no puedo esperar a ver lo que le depara el resto de su carrera y espero verla de nuevo en la zona de Chicago más pronto que tarde.
Para cerrar la noche, el hombre en persona, el mejor artista de salsa tropical de todos los tiempos, Marc Anthony. Subiendo desde un ascensor en lo alto del escenario, Marc Anthony comandó a la multitud en una noche de baile ininterrumpido. Apenas paró y fue todo sonrisas y cantos durante toda la noche.
Viendo su actuación queda claro por qué es un ganador de múltiples Grammy que ha vendido más de 12 millones de horas. Es difícil no bailar mientras se ve a Marc Anthony interactuar con su banda y el público. Si estabas cerca del escenario seguro que te señalaban, te sonreían o incluso sacaban su bandera mientras Marc la llevaba por el escenario. También hay que destacar que toda la banda de Marc Anthonys es simplemente fantástica. Como alguien que viene de un entorno de rock y metal, su batería en particular debe ser mencionado por todos, ya que ofrece uno de los mejores y más divertidos solos de batería que he tenido el placer de ver en vivo.
Tocando de un setlist de éxitos y algunos cortes más profundos incluyendo de su lanzamiento de 2019 “Opus”, los fans salieron contentos escuchando todo lo que podrían querer y más. Si tienes la oportunidad de ver esta gira en directo no podría recomendarla más, tanto si eres un fan acérrimo como si eres alguien que no conoce su música, saldrás tan impresionado como tú.
