One thing you can’t do at this point is pigeonhole Australian metal band Make Them Suffer. Granted, their album Neverbloom was a potent blend of metalcore, deathcore, and even black metal influences, but 2015’s Old Souls was a sea change for them. One that some fans didn’t like, but it surely gained them more. A more melodic and accessible sound, sure, but also one that seemed like a natural progression from MTS’s earlier work.
It’s not like MTS have gone pop or anything, though. On the band’s new single “Fireworks”, Make Them Suffer are clearly going for a more atmospheric, almost Deftones-esque sound, at least on the new single. The song is also off the band’s upcoming album, Worlds Apart, due out July 28th. If the new album is this good, it surely won’t be long until MTS gain the attention and respect they deserve. A major breakout is imminent.
