Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst once said (well, sang) that “drama makes the world go around”. And he’s not wrong, really. If you’re in the news, someone is talking about you, for better or for worse. And in Machine Gun Kelly’s case, he’s now drawn the ire of Slipknot fans after his Riot Fest performance, where he had choice words for Slipknot and their traditional wearing of masks.
According to Guitar.com, Kelly, while on stage, said the following:
“Hey, you wanna know what I’m really happy that I’m not doing? Being 50 years old wearing a fucking weird mask on a fucking stage.”
This sort of routine didn’t end well for Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst when he poked fun at Slipknot’s fans back in the day, so it won’t be a surprise to see a similar response from Corey Taylor. What does he really think about it, though? It’s also not without precedent, of course. In an interview earlier this year, Taylor did appear to reference MGK’s stylistic change from hip-hop to pop-punk with Tickets To My Downfall, so there’s that.
Soooo Machine Gun Kelly just called out Slipknot for being “50-year-old’s wearing weird fucking masks” ???? Uhhh wtf ?
What do you guys think about this?

Not that this has to be said but Slipknot is one of the most influential metal bands of all time and for MGK to boil them down to “50 year olds wearing weird masks” is so fucking funny to me
