Released in March 2003 to an expectant public, much had changed for Linkin Park with the release of Meteora. On Hybrid Theory, the band established themselves as arguably the new millennium’s biggest new rock band, selling millions of copies worldwide. Instead of the pressure of releasing their debut, Linkin Park was being saddled with the weight of high expectations.
Of course, most of us know how the story goes. Meteora went on to sell millions of copies on its own, anchored by some of the band’s biggest singles – especially “Numb” and “Faint”. Linkin Park has remained a rock mainstay with music streaming becoming more popular by the year, with over 21 million monthly listeners on Spotify alone on April 14th, 2021.
Now, the album has been streamed over 2 billion times on Spotify alone, which is pretty impressive. Of course, “Numb” accounts for 811 million of those streams alone, but nonetheless it’s a super impressive achievement if you like big, round numbers. Also of note – “In The End” is likely to become one of the rare rock songs to reach 1 billion Spotify streams later this year.
