Linkin Park is having a “big things coming” moment by planning something for Meteora’s 20th anniversary

It appears that the band will indeed be doing something for the 20th anniversary of Meteora, which is coming up on March 25. “Big things coming” is that thing local bands say when they’re about to drop a lyric video, or a mid-size band says when they’re about to announce a tour that they conveniently planned to be at least 500 miles from wherever you happen to live. In the case of Linkin Park, though, big things may actually be coming, thanks to a new announcement from Mike Shinoda.

Considering the record sold millions of copies worldwide (and counting), it’s obviously not a surprise that they’d do this, and it’s even more exciting considering what they did for the 20th anniversary of Hybrid Theory.

In case you forgot, we’ll get you back up to speed. LP celebrated the 20th anniversary of their game-changing debut record by rolling out all kinds of demos, remixes, outtakes, and even the rare 1999 Hybrid Theory EP that helped put the band on the map. Some of the rare tracks dated back a few years before the album’s release (you know, when nobody outside of California knew who they were, and pre-Chester Bennington), and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see something similar surface here. After all, the band did demo and record other tracks that didn’t make the record, and like HT20, wouldn’t be a soulless cash grab either. They’re a band that’s always had the most respect for their loyal fanbase, so it’ll be interesting to see (and hear) what LP rolls out for the album. Maybe a full live show from around this time, too? Live In Texas is good for that, though.
