Let’s Talk Wrestling : WWE Extreme Rules 2021 (Review)

WWE

Extreme Rules

Columbus, Ohio

09.26.2021

Carmella vs. Liv Morgan

A solid pre show match between Carmella and Morgan. Morgan looked great here, had some solid moves, and the crowd was behind her. Both women though ended up looking great, better than both have been shown on PPVs for awhile. 3 / 5

Six Man Tag Team Match
AJ Styles, Bobby Lashley & Omos vs. The New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods)
Good opener to the PPV. New Day as always are over, everyone here got their time to shine. Omos is getting better but still doesn’t do much to impress me other than him just being a large guy. Finish was half expected but still worked well to make no one look weak here. 3.5 / 5
WWE SmackDown Tag Team Title Match
The Usos (Jey Uso & Jimmy Uso) (c) vs. Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford)
A solid tag match between these two. Street Profits are getting more and more over with fans and looked great in ring. Usos retaining didn’t really need to happen as they gain nothing from continuing their bland reign. 3 / 5
WWE RAW Women’s Title Match
Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Alexa Bliss
Shockingly way better than I expected it to be. Bliss was great in ring when actually given the chance to wrestle. Cheap finish with the doll being used and Bliss taking the belt would have been a great angle. 3.5 / 5
WWE United States Title Triple Threat Match
Damian Priest (c) vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Sheamus
A bit of a slow and sloppy 3 way bout but not bad. Suffered from the generic issue of these matches where its one on one with someone else laying outside the ring. Sheamus was good, Priest had some sloppy moments, and Hardy is still trying to destroy what is left of his body. 2.5 / 5
WWE SmackDown Women’s Title Match
Becky Lynch (c) vs. Bianca Belair
A decent match but just never seemed to hit the way one would hope. It could be in part due to how Belair lost the belt before but these two just never connected in ring. It was slower in parts and super sloppy in others. Ending with a run in just ruined what could have been a saving grace for the match. 2 / 5
WWE Universal Title Extreme Rules Match
Roman Reigns (w/Paul Heyman) (c) vs. Finn Balor
Balor got in loads of offense and made it seem like a credible bout. They got their big spots in here and run ins as expected. Having Reigns win clean was at least a solid way to go as Balor had no chance of taking the belt. Sadly though the ending of the match killed anything it had going in ways that will be spoke of for years to come. 2  / 5
