Let’s Talk Wrestling: Wrestlemania 37 Night 2 (Review)

The Fiend vs. Randy Orton

Opening the night was a match that has been built up for quite some time. Following up the horrendous Bliss vs Orton match we had before, this was the revival of The Fiend character. After a cool opening involving The Fiend opening out of a jack in the box we were treated to a quick and awful match followed by watching Bliss pour black ooze from her head. To end what was a moment where the crowd has turned on the match they decided the best thing was to have the lights go out and both disappear before just moving on as if nothing had happened.

Natalya and Tamina vs. Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler

This wasn’t a great match but just wasn’t anything particularly interesting. Based on a feud no one cares about between two heel teams the crowd just didn’t have much care espcially after an awful opener. It didn’t help the match went a little long too.

Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn

This was a quicker match but still a very solid one between two men who have had solid matches between them for over a decade. Logan Paul being included was both the worst aspect of it and clearly the only reason this angle was happening, so that KO could stunner him. Thankfully Logan Paul didn’t do anything for the match but this was still just something done so they could have a bigger name included in it.

Riddle vs. Sheamus

A really solid match between the two. Riddle since coming to main roster has been a blunder of a character so far, not seeming to really do anything or be stuck to anything. This match was good though and had plenty of hard hitting action between the two. Sheamus continues to prove he can put on solid matches with anyone and hopefully this helps to push Riddle into a direction that works soon.

Big E vs. Apollo Crews

This match was whatever a Nigerian Drum Fight is, since neither men used any sort of drum during the match. This was a short no DQ match with some light weapon spots but ended with a cheap run in to further an angle which is seeming to get no traction.

Rhea Ripley vs. Asuka

This was a solid match which hopefully sets up some good things for the future with Ripley. Night one’s main event set a high bar for this match sadly and it just never had the chance to go against what fans were given already. As the match went on the storytelling seemed to go out the window to instead showcase both women giving their best at each other.

Daniel Bryan vs. Edge vs. Roman Reigns

This turned out as a much better main event than I expect. It moved along at a very fast pace and had all 3 men looking their best throughout it. While it was a good thought that Edge or Bryan would walk out with the belt, it was almost certain WWE would continue to make Reigns the face of the company. Reigns even though he still doesn’t get the crowd reaction Vince and WWE hope for came out here looking great from the finish of pinning both men on top of each other.

While night one was a very solid night of wrestling night two just didn’t hold up the same. Between a horrible start to the evening to just one too many generic matches thrown in not even a solid main event match could save this night from being anything other than mediocre.
