GCW

The Art Of War Games

09.04.2021

Hoffman Estates, IL

Billie Starkz vs. Janai Kai
Billie seemingly either breaks or messes up Kais nose 1 minute into the match and busts it wide open outside the ring. Solid opening match between these two. Billie is improving but the issue here is that so many moments were either slower to help both set up the moves or the moves just ended up looking weak or not connecting really. 3 / 5
Tony Deppen vs. Allie Katch
A good old school match between Deppen and Allie. Deppen is a great heel and Allie did some good story telling with her neck throughout the match. It was a great heel finish by Deppen as well. Both sides looked great here giving the crowd a more old school match. 3.5 / 5
Deppen then calling out Ron Funches after their long standing twitter feud was another great heel move by Deppen.
Two Ring Ladder Scramble Fuckfest Match
Shane Mercer vs. Jake Lander vs. Jordan Oliver vs. Dante Leon vs. Nick Wayne vs. Ninja Mack vs. Yoya
A fun crazy spot fest with some serious issues though. The issue with GCW scrambles is that they are either too nonstop chaotic or that they slow down too much. This match sort of had both. By the half way point it was just a lot of guys laying around while a few wrestled into a huge spot. It didn’t help either that the camera couldn’t catch some things and for big spots flat out missed half the shot either. 2 / 5
War Games Match
44OH! (Atticus Cogar, Bobby Beverly, Eddy Only, Eric Ryan, Gregory Iron & Rickey Shane Page) vs. Team MDK (AJ Gray, Alex Colon, Effy, Mance Warner, Matthew Justice & Nick Gage)
A fun match that had a long building story to it. Deathmatch war games is a fantastic idea but getting a good view of it on film is hard. You don’t get a great view on everything between 12 men going at it inside a cage in 2 rings. It did have blood and spots galore, some spots didn’t connect right and looked like they hurt but the big two final spots were just insane. Can’t imagine how they continue how after this match with 44OH. 4 / 5
GCW World Title Match
Matt Cardona (c) vs. Frank The Clown
GCW World Title Match
Matt Cardona (c) vs. Jon Moxley
Cardona open challenge with Frank The Clown lasts about 10 seconds, then G Raver comes out with his druids, one of which is Mox, who attacks Cardona and wins the belt. This wasn’t a match really at all as it was a way for Cardona to get out of GCW and Mox to set up Gage / Mox next month. 3 / 5
