There’s a possibility, however minute, that you’ll see a Frank Ocean and Knocked Loose collaboration at Coachella 2023. It’s also possible Coachella attendees will be gathered here today, under the pressure of a weary gaze.
All jokes aside, Knocked Loose performing at a festival like this is a HUGE deal. Equally comfortable playing LDB in Louisville as they are touring with Bring Me The Horizon, there’s really no limit to what the band can achieve. Seemingly ascending new heights by the day, seeing heavy music represented on a level like this is a win for any band who’s ever grinded things out, wondering if people care about their music.
In the case of Knocked Loose, plenty of people do. But the story is the same for so many bands and musicians. From Linkin Park’s legendary journey of dozens of labels rejecting an album that sold tens of millions worldwide to Goo Goo Dolls not experiencing success until a decade in, there’s no shortage of bands that finally reaped the rewards of their hard work.
Forged in the fires of basements and tiny venues, their hype started to grow both through word-of-mouth hype as well as the Internet. Unrelenting touring and the embrace of community (a hardcore ethos to pass on since basically forever) also helped Knocked Loose get to where they are now. And they’re not alone. From bands like Scowl and Drain being hyped as hardcore’s next big things to the plethora of bands rising from nothing into well-oiled machines, there’s no limit to the number of examples you’ll find that are also making waves.
For Knocked Loose, though, they’ve never forgotten where they came from. This is the same band that’s right at home playing festivals with massive bands just as they are playing with the likes of Simulakra (who are really fucking good btw) and metalcore upstarts Foreign Hands. So many wins all around, tbh. Even a concept EP // short film wasn’t beyond their abilities on A Tear In The Fabric Of Life.
The only question js, just how big will Knocked Loose get? There really is no limit.
