Kittie are back and doing a small handful of headline dates in 2024 and thankfully Chicago made the cut. Marking the bands first return to Chicago since 2012, Kittie packed Concord Music hall with a mix of old and new fans and showed everyone just how on fire they still are.
Supporting their new record “Fire” which came out this summer and saw the bands first new music in 12 years, fans were treated to a set spanning the bands career. While heavy on songs from “Fire”, “Oracle”, and “Spit”, fans did get some deeper cuts including what should be set staples that the band previously didn’t play often in their heyday.
Morgan Lander, lead vocalist and guitarist, seemed happier than ever to be back on stage and commanded the crowd with a voice that was so heavy that you’d never known she was almost a 30 year vet of the genre. The entire band including long time members Mercedes Lander, Tara McLeod, and Ivana “Ivy” Jenkins were all smiles as they were clearly happy to be back on stage together and playing an intimate club show amid their festival runs this summer.
The crowd made sure to give 110% their entire 21 song set. Constant seas of crowd surfers, most pits galore, and people singing every word were seen nonstop making it clear fans were happy to see them back. Its clear the band has never lost a step and lets just hope its not another 12 years before Kittie returns to Chicago. IL deathcore act VCTMS and hot up and coming metalcore act Conquer Divide opened this night of the tour.
