Interview: Your Loud Neighbors

1079697_10153067675255291_1366765171_nYour Loud Neighbors is an American pop punk band based out of Palm Harbor, Florida. The first time I heard them they reminded me of a young Blink – 182. Recently I talked to the band about the formation and future of the band. They are still very young and have a promising future.

The Interview:

Please introduce yourself and what you do in Your Loud Neighbors?

Jason: My name is Jason Goldstein and I’m the bassist and lead vocalist for Your Loud Neighbors.

Teddy: My name is Teddy Dryce and I’m the lead guitarist and back-up vocalist for Your Loud Neighbors.

Zeth: My name is Zeth Hill and I’m the rhythm guitarist and back-up vocalist for Your Loud Neighbors.

Band: Also, Tim Husted is our “drummer” he plays gigs with us and is recording our album with us, He is also our manager.

How did the band get formed?

Jason: The band got formed in November 11, 2011, by just Teddy and I, when we were in the seventh grade. We actually formed it originally to get girls, but now that’s changed. I mean obviously we still do it to get girls, but we want to help revive pop punk. A lot of help came from a friend of mine, Ian Weborg, who was my trumpet instructor, he really inspired me to form a band. Teddy and I have been playing music since we were about 8, so we decided finally to form a band.

What bands inspire you to create music and why?

Jason: Mostly blink-182, The Queers, and Jimmy Eat World. Teddy and I have always been fans of Blink and grew up listening to songs like Dammit and Carousel. The Queers is an interesting story, they had a drummer named Hugh O’ Neill who my mother actually played in a band with and dated when she was younger. She introduced us to The Queers with a song called “Psycho Over You”, which is the inspiration for our songs “See That Girl” and “Crazy For You”. As for Jimmy Eat World, well they’re just so fucking catchy.

What does 2013 hold for YLN?

Jason and Teddy: We’re on our way to finishing our first album, “All At Once”. We will also be gigging a lot around the Tampa/St Pete area, we also hope to find a record deal soon.

Which label would you like to sign too and why?

Jason: We’re not sure yet, we’ve just been looking for a label that will sign us, any label, any at all. I mean obviously we want to be signed to a label like MCA records, but that’s a long term goal for us.

What message would you like to deliver to your listeners?

Jason and Teddy: We only wish for everyone to listen to our music and understand what they mean, that we really want girlfriends. In all seriousness we just hope that people acknowledge us as real musicians despite our age and not just think of a group of immature 14 year olds who dream of sex all day.

If you could tour with any bands who and why?

Band: Blink-182 because they’re our biggest influence and Weezer cause they have some of the best fans. Rivers Cuomo is just fucking awesome!

What makes you guys different from your average pop punk band?

Band: If you listen to a lot of newer pop punk bands, they give they’re songs a lot more meaning than they should. Pop Punk is about getting together with your pals and having a fucking great time, even the newer love songs by Pop Punk bands are about broken hearts and a bunch of other shit. If I write a love song, I’m gonna be straight about it. I didn’t have my heart broken, I see a pretty girl and I wanna take her out sometime. I don’t need some shitty back story to go with it. That’s what real pop punk is about, not all this emotional heart break crap.

In closing is there anything you would like to add?

Jason, Teddy, and Zeth: See you later fuck faces and don’t do drugs!
