There’s an iconic song, “Summer Of ’69”, that captures the spirit of being young, having no responsibilities, and enjoying the carefree passions of not knowing where you’re going in life. Bryan Adams’ iconic song is an American anthem for good reason, even decades later – and as someone who has a regular 9-5 job and a family, it makes me think about all the young musicians who are going on tour for the first time and exploring the world this summer. Whether or not the bands in question will end up “making it” or not, you can bet that their adventures will stay with them for the rest of their lives.

I immediately thought of the parallels between the song and Canadian metalcore band Vesuvius’ first US tour, which they’re starting June 20th. En route to their first destination in Saginaw, Michigan, I caught up with the band via telephone to discuss their new album (My Place Of Solace And Rest), hockey, and what they’re planning to explore while in the US on tour. Check out the 30 minute audio interview below!
