INTERVIEW: Solence’s Markus Videsäter on Swedish bands, electro metal, etc.

The fusion of electronic music and metal has been fermenting the past decade, seeing acts like I See Stars, Dangerkids, and more blend the genres with compelling results. Swedish band Solence has been cranking out similar jams the past two years, with Direction just recently releasing to hundreds of thousands of plays on each track. We got to speak to vocalist Markus Videsäter about this release and more!

The New Fury: You just released your second album, Direction, but are already recording for album 3. How do you maintain this high level of drive?

Markus Videsäter: We strongly believe that we need to create and release music in order to get better, so we try to get out as much music as possible. We treat our music more like pages in a diary, rather than overthinking it too much. We always try our best when we create and when you give a lot of music to the world, you get a lot of feedback and we get better at creating quicker.

Also, we love to release music and get the love from our fans, especially in these times when you can’t play live!

New Fury: How did the pandemic affect your release schedule for Direction?

Markus: Not much, we actually created our release schedule after we realized how the coming months were gonna look. So you could practically say that Direction was a direct effect from the Pandemic, otherwise we would probably had been playing live more and delayed the releases a bit.

New Fury: Another electro metal band that’s getting attention is Starset. What do you think of them?

Markus: Really cool! We really like them, especially the song “My Demons”! That’s our jam!!

New Fury:
What are your favorite bands in the Swedish scene?

Markus: In Flames are huge inspirations to us! Also our friends in Smash Into Pieces and Normandie, go check them out!!

New Fury: What are your dream bands to tour with?

Markus: God, that’s hard haha. I think it’s a bit of a mixture between genres. In a dream world – a tour with Dream Theater, Avenged Sevenfold, Iron Maiden, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Bring Me The Horizon would be absolutely mad!

Thanks to Markus for speaking with us and Cosa Nostra PR for setting this up! Check out Direction below!
