Chicago, IL’s Oceano doesn’t attempt to genre-hop, or pretend to be anything but what they are – a punishing death-metal/hardcore hybrid. Their 4th album, Ascendants, dropped earlier this year to some surprising reactions from the music community, but such success isn’t surprising for this hard-working band that’s seemingly always on tour.
The band (mainly guitarist Michael Kasper) gave us a few minutes before their set in St Pete, Florida, to discuss all things Oceano – the new album, the tour they’re on with Veil Of Maya, but also the NHL playoffs, Chicago Blackhawks hockey, and classic video games they like to play in their spare time. Check out the conversation in audio format after the jump.
