Last week I posted my review for OS:OD, the awesome EP of Miami Metallers, As the World Weeps. I had the opportunity to talk to the guys about upcoming shows, their new music video, what they hope fans take away from their music,  as well as what’s next for the band. Check it out below!

Thanks for taking the time to talk to us! How are you doing?

Doing great! Stoked for our upcoming shows.

Where did the band name and EP title come from?

It first started out as a song name, and then it replaced our former name “Ancient Of Days”.

What was the most difficult song to record?

Definitely Worshippers. It’s a very busy, fast paced song, with a lot of odd time signature changes. Those are always fun to record haha.

How did you guys approach recording OS:OD?

We took a very DIY approach to the EP. Everything was tracked in my bedroom studio with the help of an Axe-Fx, Superior Drummer and other studio gear. It was a great learning experience that we will carry with us on the next release.

Any shows coming up that you’d like to talk about?

Definitely! These are the ones we have coming up:

June 13th House show with With Honor We Fight, Landmarks, and many more!

June 21st at Archie’s West with Ovid’s Withering, Creatures Of Habit and more!

August 1st at Anonymous Guitars with And The Kingdom Fell, Acaedia, Existence Has Failed and more awesome bands.

If you could describe your sound in only three words, what would they be?

Flat. Out. Awesome. Haha. I guess thats 4.

What is your favorite non metal album?

That’s almost impossible to decide so I’ll mention one of my favorites. Check out “Within and Without” by Washed Out. Such a great album to relax to.

Do you have a structured practice schedule or is it more random, like any time there’s an instrument around?

We usually practice 2 times a week, sometimes 3-4 if there’s a show coming up.

You guys just released a music video, how was that?

It was a fun experience thanks to our director, and good friend Helena Suba. She’s got big things brewing. We hope to do it again for a song on our next album.

Any plans for new music?

Were currently writing music for our next album and are about 75% done with the writing aspect. We’ve already started working on pre production tracks and hope to release something new soon!

What have you been listening to lately?

I’m loving the new Animals as Leaders album. Great songwriting coupled with great grooves. Those dudes are on a whole other level.

What do you feel defines you guys as a band?

Our combined passion for all types of music; blending together becoming the unified sound of As The World Weeps. We cant wait to show everyone what we’ve been working on!

What do you want your fans to take away after listening to one of your songs?

MIND. BLOWN. That should be satisfying haha.

If you got the chance to play any festival around the world, which would it be?

Such a hard question since we’d play all of ’em! But if I had to choose it would probably have to be Download Fest, or Wacken.

What was the first concert you attended?

Linkin Park, Hoobastank, and Story Of The Year at Bank Atlantic center. Suuuuuuuch a long time ago.

So what’s next for ATWW?

We’re gonna continue working on new material, as well as more shows throughout the summer. We hope to release some new songs very soon!

Thanks again for taking the time to talk to us! Anything else you would like to say?

Big thanks to The New Fury for the feature!
