In a crowded musical climate full of posturing and cliched ballads, there’s still something to be said about rock bands who put out solid albums, and continually tour hard behind them. You can definitely put Las Vegas’ Adelitas Way in that category. In the 5 or so years I’ve been a fan of the band, they’ve continued to impress me by seemingly always being on tour somewhere.

Buoyed by early career highlight “Invincible”, the band has never really lost momentum, as they continually tour and release new music fairly often. Though the quality of their recent music has been at least solid (2014’s disappointing Stuck, nonwithstanding), they haven’t put together something necessarily great – at least until their new album, Getaway, drops this Friday. It’s gaining lots of traction based on first single, “Bad Reputation”, and for good reason – Rick DeJesus has never sounded better on vocals, and anchored by a great chorus, Adelitas Way is sure to reach new heights.

I was able to speak to vocalist Rick DeJesus on the St Pete date of their recent tour (a festival date of sorts where they played with POD, Hellyeah, and 10 Years, among others), where we discussed their new album, working hard on the road, and their new friends in Failure Anthem (who just put out a great debut record, also). Check out the interview (audio) and the new song, “Bad Reputation”, below.
