Ice Nine Kills have the biggest Billboard first-week chart debut of their career with ‘Welcome To Horrorwood: The Silver Scream 2’

Horror and metal simply go together, that much is certain. Just ask Ice Nine Kills, who’ve combined them (and other genres of music) for years, before it was really in vogue. Granted, there’s plenty of bands who’ve done this over the years, but in the metalcore/post-hardcore realm of things, there aren’t very many.

The band’s 2018 album The Silver Scream was a huge coming out party for the band, putting in front of the much wider audience they’ve been craving for quite some time. In fact, the band’s upward trajectory has come a long way since their early material, with 2014’s The Predator Becomes The Prey running off a string of four consecutive full-length albums that have all seen more first-week numbers than the last. While that metric isn’t always the most relevant one, it still carries plenty of weight, especially when you consider that many veteran acts end up tailing off.

Clearly, fans wanted more, as Ice Nine Kills continue to market themselves quite well. In fact, their newest album, Welcome To Horrorwood: The Silver Scream 2, actually has their best first-week debut on the Billboard 200 to date. In a bit of irony, the record sold more copies this week than the new Halloween Kills soundtrack, along with new records from Kelly Clarkson and Zac Brown Band. Again, not necessarily the best metric to go by as far as comparing artists against different genres of music, but it’s moreso a testament to the determination of Ice Nine Kills not to throw in the towel.
