GCW “Don’t Tell Me What To Do” (02.20.2022) (Wrestling Review)

GCW

Atlantic City, New Jersey

Singles Match
Jordan Oliver vs. Alec Price

A good debut showing for Alec Price. He is good in ring for his age and Oliver was a solid choice. The issue was the match itself just wasn’t great. It never felt like it got going and the crowd never seemed behind it. I’ve never been much a fan of Oliver and don’t think he’s been progressing to match the push GCW has been giving him. It had its moments with both men still though.

Singles Match
Drago Kid vs. ASF

A fun quick lucha style match. Both Drago Kid and ASF have been showing off lately in GCW. They both for their size showed some of the more high flyer spots they have but the match itself just felt like it was just short of something good. They’ve both looked better and better lately but both seem to be just short of that thing to truly push them over.

Singles Match
Blake Christian vs. Ninja Mack

Honestly a very lackluster match given both these men shine in spot filled matches. I’ve felt Blake since his return to the Indies after WWE hasn’t been the same as he was before hand. Mack as well just seemed off here almost like they couldn’t get it going and had little chemistry.

Death Match
Cole Radrick vs. Orin Veidt

Cole Radrick went full deathmatch again here and showed that he could easily be one of the bigger deathmatch guys on the indie. For what Orin seemed to not give in this match as far as taking spots or bleeding, Cole did 4 times that. A fantastic match with a lot of close calls, great spots, and Cole just made himself look like a million bucks here.

4 / 5

Six Way Scramble Match
Colby Corino vs. Bryan Keith vs. Jimmy Lloyd vs. Billie Starkz vs. Marcus Mathers vs. Jack Cartwheel

A well timed but also not fantastic scramble. This one was unlike most of theirs with a lack of lucha guys. It had the spots and everyone got a little time to shine but it just felt somewhat lifeless.

Tag Team Match
Joey Janela & Marko Stunt vs. The Second Gear Crew (AJ Gray & Matthew Justice)

A pretty fun mindless brawl match. They went around the venue brawling and while some spots didn’t exactly work out once it got back to the ring it turned into a ECW type match that was fun. Stunt here was fine and that’s saying a lot since I’m not huge on him. SGC is always good and Matt Justice should be way bigger than he is.

Singles Match
2 Cold Scorpio vs. Gringo Loco

I don’t really under the appeal of 2 Cold since he’s been back on the Indies and GCW and here didn’t help. This felt like it went on forever and moved along at a slow pace almost telling a story here with having Gringo go heel-like. I just wasn’t a fan.

GCW Tag Team Title Death Match
The H8 Club (Matt Tremont & Nick Gage) (c) vs. The Rejects (John Wayne Murdoch & Reed Bentley)

A really fun tag team deathmatch here with 2 legends and 2 of the biggest names in current deathmatch. Tons of great spots and blood galore. The middle of the middle hit a point where it started to drag though where everyone was tired for a few minutes. It picked itself back up though and ended on a high note. Its good to see Gage back and happy and The Rejects in GCW again.
