Former Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison has passed away at the age of 46

Today is a sad day in music. Legendary musician Joey Jordison, who has poured his musical soul into music projects such as Slipknot, Murderdolls, Scar The Martyr, and more has tragically passed away at the age of 46 years-old The music community mourns the loss of a legend.

His family issued the below statement regarding his death earlier today.

“We are heartbroken to share the news that Joey Jordison, prolific drummer, musician and artist passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 26th, 2021. He was 46.
Joey‘s death has left us with empty hearts and feelings of indescribable sorrow. To those that knew Joey, understood his quick wit, his gentle personality, giant heart and his love for all things family and music. The family of Joey have asked that friends, fans and media understandably respect our need for privacy and peace at this incredibly difficult time. The family will hold a private funeral service and asks the media and public to respect their wishes.

A founding member of Slipknot, Jordison played with the band up until his departure in late 2013. Jordison and the other founding members of Slipknot found each other playing Des Moines’ club circuit, chiefly at a venue called the Runway. That night changed the chorus of music, and their lives. He went on to perform with Scar The Martyr, Vimic and Sinsaenum in the years that followed. Rest in peace, we will cherish your music for a long time to come.
