Praised for its incredible production and diverse lineup, Boston Calling is a must-see festival for any New Englander. With so many acts performing, we narrowed down the five must-see bands for you to watch this year.
- The 1975
An English rock-pop band from Manchester, The 1975 have taken the world by storm with their catchy instrumentals and passionate lyrics. Even if you don’t recognize the name, you surely have heard at least one of their songs.
2. Chance the Rapper
Hailing from Chicago, Chance the Rapper is well, a rapper. But the talent this man has is unparalleled. His most recent album, Coloring Book, was the first streaming-only album to ever receive and win a Grammy nomination.
3. Tool
A dominant act in the alternative metal movement, Tool is from Los Angeles, California. With multiple Grammy Awards, several world-wide tours under their belt, and a discography that appeals to almost any metalhead, Tool should be at the top of anyone’s list who likes heavier music.
4. Converge
Playing the final day of the festival, hometown heroes Converge will be sure to put on an amazing performance. They mix hardcore punk and heavy metal into a sound that will smack you right in the face (in a good way).
5. The Hotelier
A post-hardcore band from Worcester, Massachusetts, the Hotelier are playing the final day of the festival as well. The emotion they put into their music and live performances makes them a must-see for anyone into alternative music.
