One of music’s most beloved and seemingly down to earth men is next in line for a biopic of his life, following others recently such as Freddy Mercury and Elton John. While often overlooked for his talents and contributions to music, Weird Al is still just one of a few major artists who has had a top hit in every decade since the 1980’s, so what better time than now to bring him to the big screen?
Playing him though is none other than Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe. Radcliffe has shown in the last few years that he is fully capable of doing roles of any sort ranging from action films like “Guns Akimbo” to the tense thriller “Escape from Pretoria”.
The film, co-written by Yankovic himself, will follow his rise to fame and his often times wacky life leading up to it and during it. As with everything Weird Al has done we can expect the film to not play itself too seriously and not a serious dramatic biopic. @FilmUpdates on Twitter has shown the first pictures of Radcliffe in costume and while at first glance he does look like he’s doing a cheap Halloween costume version of Weird Al, you should remember that’s how Weird Al often presented himself as well.
