To put it simply, Ronnie Radke of Falling In Reverse always seems to be in the news. Often, for what many think are the wrong reasons. Between his opinions on medical science during the COVID-19 pandemic and alleged transphobic comments that surfaced online, this is the same person who also insulted Spiritbox fans because the band quickly dropped off an upcoming tour where they were preparing to support Falling In Reverse. There’s no doubt that Radke and Falling In Reverse have a lot of loyal fans, though, as they’re currently playing some of the biggest venues they’ve ever headlined.
Radke has come under fire for a few more different reasons now, though. After having to cancel the Orlando date of Falling In Reverse’s tour (a festival appearance at Earthday Birthday), Radke initially attributed blame on having a shot voice. Regardless of your personal opinions on him or his band, that’s something that can happen to just about any vocalist who’s constantly touring.
Radke then canceled a second Falling In Reverse show in St. Augustine, where he blamed having a shot voice on “cold air” in the venues (text was transcribed by Lambgoat)
“Yo man, I’m sorry, I tried guys. Just want to let you guys know I can’t do the show today. I need one more day of rest and the next show I’m going to be able to do for sure. It happens sometimes guys, there’s a lot of bands that have to do this, so I’m sorry. I’m not sick, I don’t have – it’s just the cold air in one of these venues, there’s no moisture. You can hear it in my voice. So I got to take care of my voice, and I love you guys. I know there’s gonna be some mad people. You guys are gonna be super mad, I know. You brought your kids and stuff like that. There’s nothing I can do about it. I gotta take care of my voice. I love you guys, I promise you I’ll come back very soon, promise. Bye”
Okay, show cancellations happen. It’s a fact of life. Touring is not an easy thing even for the biggest bands in the world, and it’s especially hard the more strain is placed on your voice (and as you age). However, after Metal Injection (and several other media outlets) reported the news, Radke proceeded to lash out at Metal Injection and specifically Frank Injection, one of the higher-ups at the publication. In fact, Radke made threats toward Frank Injection – saying that he would “have some words with him in person for sure”. This is despite the fact that Metal Injection, just like the other media outlets that reported this story, posted Radke’s exact words and statements concerning the cancellations. Because of course, the easiest thing to do is blame the media for quite literally reporting the facts when you’re faced with any kind of criticism. This is, again, despite the fact the band is selling out pretty sizable venues at this point.
“Blames venues cold air” Amalie arena is a 19,000 seat hockey arena that works hard to fight the humidity that Florida brings and keeps it extremely cold and dry, I sang in dry cold artificial air, a singers nemesis. I canceled so I could continue. Why is this such a huge deal? pic.twitter.com/BrgsUKwK6G

These fucking idiots think I just cancel cause I want to play video games, and pay my crew, pay for the buses, piss of the fans, what do you think happens when I cancel? I don’t make money. I’m just traveling around losing money
