Fall Out Boy kick off “So Much For Tour(Dust)” with stacked hometown lineup at historic Wrigley Field

Local pop punkers turned rockstars Fall Out Boy made Chicago proud and kicked off their “So Much For Tour(Dust)” with a sold out show at the legendary home of the Chicago Cubs, Wrigley Field.

Fall Out Boy made this opening night even more special by enlisting some big help from Chicago bands. Alkaline Trio, one of Chicagos most respected punk bands, direct supported the band. This was the bands first performance since last falls “When We Were Young” fest and the bands debut show with their new drummer Atom Willard. With an hour setlist full of hits and some deeper cuts the crowd was more than familiar with the band as they are direct inspiration for Fall Out Boy.

Coming from the suburbs outside Chicago was nearly reformed The Academy Is on their only date of the tour. The band, after reforming at last years Riot Fest, has only performed a handful of dates and had a bevy of fans with signs and shirts on the barricade eager for the bands 30 minute set. Blasting through a handful of hits including their hit “Bring It On” from the Snakes On A Plane film its clear the band hasn’t lost their touch at all. Kicking off the evening was hot up and comers Royal & The Serpent who commanded the stage and crowd leaving their set with new fans for sure.

It should be said though that this was Fall Out Boys night. The band made the stadium feel both huge and also intimate. With a massive stage show including fireworks, pyro including extra pyro put in the Wrigley bleachers, a talking dog, and other surprises I won’t spoil the band made sure it was a scene (not a goddamn arms though).

Blasting through a 27 song the band hit all angles fans would want. Massive sing along hits, deep cuts, and multiple live debuts like “G.I.N.A.S.F.S.” which was part of their nightly Magic 8-Ball section where they will randomly play a different song and the debut of “Heaven, Iowa”. We also got the first full band performance of “Fake Out” and for the first time since 2017 “The Take Over, the Breaks Over”.

Fans of the band won’t want this miss this tour as opening support changes throughout to include Bring Me The Horizon, New Found Glory, Four Year Strong, and more on various dates.
